Construction Site Monitoring: A Sight for Drone Pilots

As a professional drone pilot, I have been asked to do different types of work. One of my favorite things to do is construction site monitoring. As an experienced drone pilot, I get the opportunity to show off other people's work.
The BLVD at Wilson's Crossing is a brand-new complex offering luxury townhomes and apartments. The units are beautiful and the amenities on site are quality. Whether it's pickleball courts, the pool, or the grills, I think BLVD has done everything to create a community style of living.
Over the last 18 months, I have spent a couple of hours flying around the property taking shots with my drone. It started as a muddy field. Some parts were flooded from rains earlier that week. At first glance, I would never expect that field to turn into this type of complex. A gigantic dirt patch that when flying a drone, I almost felt like I was ripping them off with those first few sessions. Little did I know they would set a baseline for a wonderful set of progressive photos that would build on top of each other over 18 different sessions.
At first, it's hard to understand the benefits of construction site monitoring as a newer drone pilot, but over years of experience, it starts to show you the value in each session. Construction site monitoring provides companies with vital data about their projects. It gives them evidence of timelines, provides updates to stakeholders, it allows project managers to provide evidence that they're on time and showing progress.
I mentioned the stakeholders in the previous section. Construction site monitoring is the easiest way to provide periodic updates to major stakeholders involved in the project. Keeping stakeholders informed and happy leads to less work as they are not constantly asking for updates.
Construction site monitoring provides the following benefits:
Saves time: provide project managers with data to make sure their projects are on time and provide them with the ability to adjust to any roadblock that could be in the way.
Saves money: Remember that roadblock that I mentioned above? Well roadblocks that are not dealt with early, can severely hold up a project. Holding up a project can cost a company thousands of dollars in fines and fees due to missed deadlines.
Saves lives: Drones keep people out of danger. An experienced drone pilot can fly through tight spaces and high areas. It allows you to capture data and images from areas that put humans at risk of injury. Again, a cost savings for the company overall.
